AND SHOWING OFF.
Think about exhibition areas, shops, museums, buildings.
These spaces require a skillful use of lighting to enhance works of art, items on display, lines.
Here our work is to highlight, rather than simply illuminate; to be present but not visible.
Our approach is different when we are asked for an eye catching lighting design.
In this case the aim is to amaze, to involve, to surprise.
Then lighting becomes emotion and the LED, the spotlights, the tracks become art.
CREATION OF A LUMINOUS PATH
FOR THE NIKE MARATHON, MILAN – 2014
Lighting design: PRIYA BELLONE, GIULIANO GARONZI,
VICHI LOMBARDO, DAMIANO DE CARLO
Implementation: LIGHT SOLUTIONS
The marathon is a night event that follows a route across the city of Milan, running below the historic Gabelle bridge over the Martesana canal. A magnificent “starred sky” effect created with 24,000 lighs turned this architectural jewel of the XIVth century into a beguiling sight. The purple colour and the ability to control and adjust the brightness of the individual lights with electronic controls created for the runners the illusion of flying in an interstellar space, completely changing the tunnel effect below the bridge.
EUROPEAN UNION PAVILION
EXPO 2015, MILAN
Lighting design: CARRÉ MAMBÔ – FRANÇOIS DUFOUR
Implementation: DORIER, KIBOX, LIGHT SOLUTIONS
The Europan Union “Golden Ear” pavilion, located in a privileged position at the heart of EXPO 2015, was created to highlight the strong relationship between the European Union, host country Italy, and the other member States.
Visitors of the exhibition area are guided through a narrative that touches on essential themes such as: the food chain, nutrition and environmental sustainability. The story has two leading characters: Alex and Sylvia, a farmer and a researcher respectively. They are neighbours, although their way of life is very different – this represents the motto of the European Union: unity in diversity. The story leads the visitor as they walk the skillfully lit Golden Ear path.
The entire lighting system was specially designed; the corridors and the pre- and post-show areas are lit with focusable projectors that provide evely spread lighting with a mix of cold and warm tones. The windows are framed by coloured luminous lines, while the projection areas use large RGB projectors. The effect is truly spectacular.
